Broadcast Storm Control
On the Aggregator, the broadcast storm control feature is enabled by default on all ports, and disabled on
a port when an iSCSI storage device is detected. Broadcast storm control is re-enabled as soon as the
connection with an iSCSI device ends.
Broadcast traffic on Layer 2 interfaces is limited or suppressed during a broadcast storm. You can view
the status of a broadcast-storm control operation by using the show io-aggregator broadcast
storm-control status command. You can disable broadcast storm control by using the no io-
aggregator broadcast storm-control command.
Dell Networking OS Behavior: If broadcast traffic exceeds 1000 Mbps, the Aggregator limits it to 1000
Mbps per port-pipe.
Disabling Broadcast Storm Control
To disable broadcast storm control on an Aggregator, use the no io-aggregator broadcast storm-
control
command from CONFIGURATION mode.
To re-enable broadcast storm control, enter the io-aggregator broadcast storm-control
command.
Displaying Broadcast-Storm Control Status
To display the status of a current storm control operation, use the show io-aggregator broadcast
storm-control status
command from EXEC Privilege mode.
Configuring Storm Control
The following configurations are available only in PMUX mode.
1. To configure the percentage of broadcast traffic allowed on an interface, use the storm-control
broadcast [packets_per_second in] command from INTERFACE mode.
2. To configure the percentage of multicast traffic allowed on an interface, use the storm-control
multicast [packets_per_second in] command from INTERFACE mode.
3. To configure the percentage of unknown-unicast traffic allowed on an interface, use the storm-
control unknown-unicast [
packets_per_second in] command from INTERFACE mode.
