Microsoft Exchange 2010 on Dell Systems: Simple Distributed Configurations

5,000 Mailboxes, up to 5GB each, on PowerEdge R720xd with

PowerVault MD1200

This reference architecture utilizes the Multi-role server and storage ―bricks‖ with internal and

external storage. It has been sized to provide mailbox sizes of up to 5GB each. The Mailbox IO profile

is sized for up to 150 messages per mailbox per day with a 20% IO headroom to accommodate up to

0.18 IOPs per mailbox. This solution delivers high availability using Exchange 2010 mailbox resiliency

with a two copy Database Availability Group (DAG). Both the active and passive copies are local. This

solution does not offer site resiliency.
