Chapter 9. Authentication in ThinLinc
Hiveconf parameter path Command line parameter Explanation
/utils/tl-nds/bindpw --bindpw The password of the binddn. As
noted above, the big advantage of
using a hive for storing this is
that the hive can be protected so
that only a specific user may see
the contents of the specific part
of the hive. This way, the
password is not exposed to all
users on the host running
tl-nds-posixpath.
/utils/tl-nds/searchbase --searchbase The point in the tree from where
searches should begin when
trying to find users and groups
without
posixAccount/posixGroup
attributes set.
--verbose Print out what happens during
execution.
--simulate Don’t do anything, just simulate
what would have been done.
Only useful in combination with
--verbose
Table 9-2. Configuration Parameters Specific to tl-nds-posixuser
Hiveconf parameter path Command line parameter Explanation
/utils/tl-nds/posixuser/cachefilename--cachefilename The file name of the filename
where the last used uidNumber is
stored. The default is
/var/opt/thinlinc/utils/tl-nds/posixuser/cache,
and generally, there’s no reason
to change this value. This file is
locked by a running
tl-nds-posixuser process to
protect against duplicate
uidNumber values in LDAP.
