For some switches, the virtual WWNs’ names must be entered manually within the switch interface and
then zoned to the storage system. The CLARiiON storage system can then see the initiator records for the
virtual machine (virtual WWNs). These initiator records need to be manually registered as shown in
Figure
26
. A separate storage group can be created for each virtual machine that is NPIV enabled; however,
additional LUNs to that virtual machine must be masked to both the ESX server and the virtual machine
that is NPIV enabled.
