Internet Group Management Protocol
(IGMP)
The Dell Networking OS supports IGMP snooping version 2 and 3 on all Dell Networking systems.
IGMP Commands
The Dell Networking OS supports the following IGMP commands:
clear ip igmp groups
debug ip igmp
ip igmp snooping flood
show ip igmp groups
show ip igmp interface
show ip igmp snooping mrouter
Important Points to Remember
Dell Networking OS supports version 1, version 2, and version 3 hosts.
Dell Networking OS IGMP snooping implementation is based on IP multicast address (not based on
Layer 2 multicast mac-address) and the IGMP snooping entries are in Layer 3 flow table not in Layer 2
forwarding information base (FIB).
Dell Networking OS IGMP snooping implementation is based on draft-ietf-magma-snoop-10.
IGMP snooping is enabled by default on the switch.
A maximum of 2k groups and 4k virtual local area networks (VLAN) are supported.
IGMP snooping is not supported on default VLAN interface.
Flooding of unregistered multicast traffic is enabled by default.
Queries are not accepted from the server side ports and are only accepted from the uplink LAG.
Reports and Leaves are flooded by default to the uplink LAG irrespective of whether it is an mrouter
port or not.
clear ip igmp groups
Clear entries from the group cache table.
Syntax
clear ip igmp groups [group-address | interface]
Parameters
group-address (OPTIONAL) Enter the IP multicast group address in dotted
